Read what one parent had to say after the 2015 Health Careers Camp:
I would like to thank you so very much, again, for providing such a wonderful experience for my daughter. Without your camp, she would have only speculated about becoming a doctor. After experiencing the hands on and shadowing experiences your camp gave her, she knows, for sure, that she wants to become a doctor! What a wonderful goal to have at the age of 15. Although life can sometimes be uncertain, her solid goal is directly related to your camp. Thank you again, so very, very much!! -R.M., 2015
Meanwhile one camper shared this:
Please accept this letter as my enthusiastic recommendation for the AHEC Health Careers Camp. The AHEC Health Careers Camp of 2015 helped me want to become a surgeon. I was interested in medicine before the camp, but I was not sure if I would enjoy it and I did not know what type of medicine I wanted to pursue. After the camp I knew exactly what I wanted to do: become a surgeon. The camp was great and gave me a lot of unique experiences. I got to experience a lot of interesting things including touring Mercy Medical Center, touring Hood Mortuary, shadowing an ophthalmologist, attend lectures about health careers and see a robot used in surgeries. I enjoyed seeing the robot the most because I am very interested in robotics used in surgeries. I saw the robot drill into a fake bone which inspired a project about robotics in medicine that I am now doing in school. Being able to actually use the robot was great because it was more than just a doctor giving a demonstration. I actually got to interact with the machine. Before we went to see the robot we got to see some pictures and videos of it in motion in an actual surgery. This inspired me to want to become a surgeon because I got to experience what real surgeons do. This health camp was a great experience and I would happily go back next year. -S.A.M., 2015
