Emergency Responders: Tips for taking care of yourself
Responding to disasters is both rewarding and challenging work. Sources of stress for emergency responders may include witnessing human suffering, risk of personal harm, intense workloads, life-and-death decisions, and separation from family. Stress prevention and management is critical for responders to stay well and to continue to help in the situation. There are important steps responders should take before, during, and after an event. Safer La Plata: San Juan Basin Public Health Issues Public Health Order to Control the Spread of COVID-19 in La Plata County New Order Implements Phased Approach to Re-Opening
Durango, Colo- San Juan Basin Public Health’s (SJBPH) today announced the order “Safer La Plata,” a phased approach that will delay the re-opening of some non-essential local businesses and workplaces to May 8th, because of continued increases of COVID-19 in parts of our region. The new SJBPH Order instructs businesses and workplaces to follow safety protocols and requirements to protect employees, customers and the community from the spread of COVID-19. The order is effective as of
Wednesday, April 29th, 2020.

Support group for Colorado RNs and LPNs are on the front line dealing with the Coronavirus public health crisis
Colorado Nurses Association is offering voluntary support groups to aid in shared problem solving. The group is facilitated by experienced RNs and APRNs and hosted through a HIPAA compliant telephonic platform.
When: Tuesdays, 7pm – 8pm and groups will run weekly through June 23, 2020.
Cost: No-cost for all Colorado RNs and LPNs. Peer support groups are not intended to replace treatment, therapy or self-help groups.
Attendance is limited for each scheduled group and registration is on a first come first served basis.

The Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center (RM-PHTC) is housed within the Center for Public Health Practice at the Colorado School of Public Health. We are one of the 10 Regional Public Health Training Centers designated by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to provide training to professionals addressing public health issues. The Community Health Programs Supervisor will oversee multiple Tri-County Health Network (TCHNetwork) Community Health Programs across our rural region. The Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations; developing the field team; establishing relationships with stakeholders; promoting programs; improving staff productivity; increasing client participation; and ensuring program sustainability.

It’s an exciting time for Community Health Programs. We are expanding our health food prescription program (FoodRX) in area clinics, partnering with area clinics to build a regional standard of health, replicating evidence-based practices for our Community Health Workers to use with clients, and determining new initiatives that will continue to improve the health and wellbeing of our region’s residents. We need an action-oriented, results driven professional to lead our motivated team! Salary starts at $40,000-$50,000 per year.
