Free masks available for Downtown visitors: BID’s Downtown Ambassadors are distributing FREE “I ‘HEART’ Durango, CO!” masks at the Ambassador Kiosk, 724 Main Ave., each Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (while current supplies last). The recent order was for 1,200, and once those are gone, BID will have distributed 15,000 masks. Businesses are encouraged to advise their customers. One mask per person. BID is thankful to be able to help keep everyone safe and keep businesses open.

The Provider Education Work Group invites you to submit an abstract for a virtual poster session that highlights one of the following related to opioid and other substance use disorders in Colorado:


  • Health equity
  • Research
  • Quality improvement plans in your medical practice
  • Educational initiatives
  • Public policy
  • Other interesting programs or projects that you would like to highlight!
If selected to present, you would be asked to prepare a 10-15 minute presentation over Zoom in the month of November. Exact dates are TBD. Please note, that while this program is sponsored by the Provider Education Work Group, we invite any individual, program, or organization (e.g. state or local public health, community coalitions, pharmacists, wellness organizations) addressing the opioid crisis and/or addiction in Colorado to submit an abstract. This is an opportunity for you to share your work, or the work of your community, with colleagues from around the state.

The deadline for abstract submissions is October 2nd, at 5:00pm, with notifications going out by October 14th. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words. While there is no specific format requirement, please be concise in explaining purpose, any applicable methodologies, results, and conclusions. Adolescent Reproductive Health For Primary Care Providers

This series offers clinically relevant topics for primary care providers who provide or are looking to build, expand, and improve care to preteens through young adults. Once completed, participants will be able to evaluate and manage common conditions in adolescent reproductive health. Over the course of six sessions, the series will include an overview of adolescent reproductive health issues, best practices in adolescent contraception and common adolescent gynecology concerns.
AUDIENCE: Colorado-based primary care providers (MD, DO, APP)

Forensic Peer Navigators will assist individuals involved in the criminal justice system increase treatment engagement and recovery, help support sense of hope and self- empowerment, improve social functioning and overall quality of life, and decrease hospitalizations; thereby decreasing recidivism, incarceration, and involvement in the criminal justice system.

San Juan Basin Public Health is hiring a PRN Registered Dental Hygienist to help support our Regional Oral Health Services Program. The duties of this position include assisting in providing school based oral health services to schools in our catchment area, assisting in the creation of oral health education presentations, becoming a Master Trainer in Cavity Free at Three and providing any requested trainings, and other duties as assigned. Some local travel will be involved. Applicants must be a Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of Colorado. This position is scheduled to close 9/23/2020, or until an adequate pool is reached.
