Clinic screenings for social and economic barriers to health give important information to organizations providing services to community members in Southwestern Colorado. Exemplary partners like Axis Health System utilize their primary care and behavioral health clinics to screen patients for these barriers to provide exemplary care treating the whole person.
|
In Southwestern Colorado, social and economic barriers to health are experienced by many different people. We know, though, that some groups struggle more than others to overcome these barriers. AHCM screenings reveal that women are slightly more likely than men to experience social needs and adults ages 19-64 are the age groups most impacted by social needs.

In better understanding the evolving needs of our region, we can develop healthcare and programming that addresses the lived experiences of our community members.
|
In coming weeks, we will highlight those organizations that coordinate with our healthcare providers to create supportive services that increase the overall wellness of Southwestern Colorado.

Colorado’s dial framework standardizes different levels of “openness” at the county level. It is a tool for counties to use to make life during the pandemic more sustainable, allowing us to balance, to the greatest extent possible, controlling the virus with our social and economic needs.

COVID-19 Fatigue Got You Down? Thursday, November 19
1pm MT | 2pm CT | 3pm ET
We are all tired of COVID, but the hits just keep on coming, and are disproportionately affecting the long-term care space. As we prepare for the challenges of fall and winter, please join us for this interactive Office Hours session that will feature special guest speaker Dr. Lea Watson. Dr. Watson will discuss the importance of recognizing COVID “fatigue” and how to manage the chronic stress it has caused. It is easy to become desensitized to the magnitude of loss, which is dangerous and unhealthy. The antidote is mindful awareness, resilience training and gratitude for the good that is always present. She will also highlight the importance of meeting this moment as one of opportunity to advocate for reform in our industry. In doing so, we can find purpose in a time of chaos and uncertainty. Like no other time, we are all in this together. Dr. Christine LaRocca, Telligen Medical Director, will join the conversation.
Objectives:
Describe three examples of why nursing homes have disproportionate stress during COVID
Discern the difference between acute and chronic stress
List three traits of resilience that can be practiced and cultivated
