The SWCAHEC Health Careers Institute was a huge success!

SWCAHEC would like to thank the Telluride Foundation for their support of an incredible event that has impacted the lives of an amazing group of students. We appreciate your commitment to education, diversity, and creating experiences for students from Southwestern Colorado and the Four Corners!

A big thank you to the wonderful staff and faculty of Fort Lewis College. Their collaboration facilitated extraordinary learning opportunities and a welcoming environment that allowed students to create lasting memories and relationships.

We are also grateful to our community of wonderful local healthcare providers whose shared stories and experiences in healthcare in SW Colorado inspired us all; Mercy Regional Medical Center, Durango Fire and Rescue, the University of Colorado Schools of Nursing and Physical Therapy, and HeartSafe La Plata.

Stay tuned for more information about the 2022 SWCAHEC Health Careers Institute.

We look forward to sharing our stories with you in the weeks ahead!

IDD and Mental Health

Over 7 million people in the United States live with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). To ensure that these individuals receive quality mental health care, providers and caretakers must receive education and training about the unique mental health needs of people living with an IDD.

Please join us for our 3-part series on IDD and Mental Health as we learn about the unique mental health needs of individuals living with IDD. The training series will consist of three one-hour workshops that will provide attendees with an up-to-date understanding of mental health practices for the IDD community, including trauma/post-traumatic stress strategies.
