Welcome Ashleigh to the SWCAHEC Team
|
|
|
Ashleigh Manuelito was born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona and is a proud member of the Navajo Nation. One of her personal goals is to shift the paradigm of health programming to allow for healing through culture.
At SWCAHEC, she will be working on curriculum content for the Navajo Nation Community Health Worker certification, on health education materials for a Rural Opioid initiative, and on a mentoring project for young people in the Four Corners interested in health careers.

Ashleigh holds a B.A. in Human Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology and Philosophy of Mind from Stanford University. She is currently a Masters of Public Health student at the University of Arizona studying Health Behavior Health Promotion, and plans to pursue a medical degree with hopes of maintaining a connection to her Indigenous roots.

About Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center (SWCAHEC)
|
SWCAHEC is one of six regional centers within the Colorado AHEC System. Serving 8 counties in Southwestern Colorado, SWCAHEC promotes academic community partnerships in five main areas of focus: 1) developing pathways for students into healthcare professions; 2) creating and delivering interprofessional education and training; 3) addressing the healthcare needs of rural and underserved areas and populations; 4) working with providers to facilitate and support practice transformation, distribution, and diversity; and 5) offering specialized community-based training.

Overview of the Community Health Programs Associate Role
|
As a member of the SWCAHEC staff located in Durango, CO, the Community Health Programs Associate (CHPA) will help develop and implement current grants and contracts related to entry level health careers, health professions educational support, and community health education in SW Colorado. This role requires the ability to: organize and implement multiple programs and projects at one time; feel comfortable providing outreach in the community for various projects; provide instruction for high school and non-traditional students related to entry level health careers; coordinate housing and instruction for health professions students; and help to facilitate community meetings.
|
The Community Health Programs Associate will preferably live in the Four Corners region and be willing and able to travel independently throughout the assigned region when required for programming. This position may require some evening and weekend events. *Due to COVID-19, in-person meetings are limited at this time.
|
Details: This is a part-time 20 hours/ week, exempt position and is supervised by the Executive Director. Professional development budget is included. Partial medical benefits provided. Salary ranges from $20,800- $26,000 based on experience.

|
Do you find purpose in improving LGBTQ+ behavioral health equity by providing peer support to Colorado’s rural, frontier, and small communities? Colorado’s rural, frontier, and small communities lack nonclinical community support groups. As part of our dedication to supporting, educating, and empowering Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community, Envision:You is seeking two Peer Community Organizers, one to serve Southeast Colorado and another to serve the Southwest area of the state. The Peer Support Community Organizer will serve as a mentor, model, advocate, and motivator for local LGBTQ+ community members by facilitating Envision:You Peer Support Program workshops.

The Envision:You Peer Support Program is a series of psycho educational workshops created to foster relationship building, reduce stigma, and empower LGBTQ+ folks in these targeted areas.

The Social Services Manager is responsible for developing and leading the outreach and enrollment team in improving client services in accessing healthy equity programs and defining client growth. The manager will support the outreach and enrollment team; assist clients with insurance enrollments and completion of applications for financial assistance. The manager will oversee day-to-day operations; train the field team of outreach and enrollment coordinators; establish relationships and communicate regularly with stakeholders; promote programs; improve team productivity; and increase client participation.

The Behavioral Health Care Coordinator (BHCC) links people in San Miguel County to available behavioral health treatment and mental wellness promotion resources. At the same time, the Coordinator advocates on behalf of clients, helps clients navigate the behavioral health system and resources, and coordinates referrals to ensure a streamlined experience for clients. When barriers to care are experienced, the BHCC will assist clients in overcoming obstacles faced in accessing or receiving services needed to maintain well-being and independence through direct services or referrals to other community resources. The BHCC will also provide cross-agency and systems coordination, partner with various behavioral health resources throughout the region, and develop and implement strategies to effectively market and advertise these resources.
