Breastfeeding and Parent Support Class
Shining Mountain Health and Wellness
On July 20th, SWCAHEC participated in one of many breastfeeding and parent support classes hosted by Shining Mountain Health and Wellness. This month’s class, Albuquerque Area Dental Support Center presented about how food effects the oral health of toddlers and led a discussion about oral health promotion and breastfeeding with community members. Classes continue monthly as they provide breastfeeding resources and education while building a community for women to feel safe and connected. SWCAHEC staff members, April and Chelsie are on their way to being a certified lactation counselors in Fall 2023.

Unlocking the Secrets of High-Conversion Fundraising Texts

C-SSRS TRAINING
Attend a Columbia Protocol Suicide Screening and Assessment Training with Columbia Lighthouse Project, led by Dr. Kelly Posner Grestenhaber! These trainings come at no cost to you. The Columbia Protocol, or C-SSRS, has been implemented widely at state, national, and international levels. This ECHO series offers providers and other staff working in health care and public health settings an opportunity to navigate, normalize and validate worries, stressors and experiences related to various health care environments. Participants will develop an awareness of the manifestations of stress along a continuum. With this framework, each session will provide helpful, tangible tools in a psychoeducational, didactic format to increase capacity, mitigate burnout, elevate connectedness and mindfulness, and promote self-efficacy and quality patient care.

Perinatal Mental Health:
An Interdisciplinary Approach
This ECHO series supports clinicians who care for pregnant patients in the evaluation and treatment of common mental health conditions and substance use disorders presenting in the perinatal period. Facilitated by a multidisciplinary team including obstetrician gynecologists, perinatal psychiatrists and psychologists, each session will include a brief presentation by an expert followed by interactive Q&A and discussion. Participants will gain confidence and knowledge in addressing the perinatal mental health needs of their patients while building connections with their peers.

Motivational Interviewing: Intermediate Skills (Summer 2023)
This course builds on the fundamental motivational interviewing concepts learned in Basic Motivational Interviewing. In this course, you will expand your skills related to using OARS (open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections and summaries). You will build confidence working with resistant clients and learn how to best integrate MI skills into your work setting.
This virtual course includes both online coursework (reading, videos, assignments) as well as weekly Live Learning Sessions via Zoom web conferencing. The live sessions will be highly interactive and include both large and small group practice.
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week (1-2 hours homework and 1 hour Live Learning Session)
