On August 11th, Indigenous Wellbriety hosted a Back to School Blessing at the Cortez Cultural Center and it was amazing! We heard prayers from elders. From seeing a baby crawl to the drum song and hearing our Indigenous Peer Recovery Coach, Frankiana’s beautiful 94 year old matriarch speak Diné language and offer guidance, we were touched.
|
Everyone who attended left with full tummies, snacks and smiles. Our IWP Elder, Howard Yazzie provided a prayer for our families and relatives. James, aka “Bear”, performed a wonderful Sundance song in Lakota for our attendees . Frankiana, thank you so much for sharing your masáásiní (maternal grandmother) with us, we are so proud of you! It was all worth all the teamwork to see our children and attendees bless themselves and walk away with goodie bags. Ahé’héé. tog'oiak. Thank you, Imo 💞🌺”
