June 14, 10-11:30 am: Exploring Values
Values are our principles—like being there for family, or wanting to be healthy. You can help your clients think about the values that guide their lives. If this exploration is done in a respectful and genuine way, it can lead to the motivation the client needs to move forward in creating change. But how do you do this? In this workshop, you will examine your own values as well as learn techniques for using values in your discussions with clients.
Basic Motivational Interviewing knowledge helpful but not required.
Spanish interpretation provided for the June 14 session.

Workshop focuses on developing knowledge and skills to become an ANCC accredited provider of nursing continuing professional development.

HRSA opened the application for its Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Loan Repayment Program, which expands access to substance use disorder (SUD) treatment by extending loan repayment opportunities to providers such as bachelor’s-level SUD counselors, behavioral health paraprofessionals and clinical support staff.
The STAR Loan Repayment Program provides up to $250,000 to eligible health professionals in exchange for a six-year, full-time service commitment.
Applications are due Thursday, June 27, 7:30 p.m. ET.

We are now accepting applications for our annual Dottie Lamm Leadership Award! We encourage women who believe embody the mission and vision of WFCO to apply for this one-time award of $2,500. Applications are due Sunday, July 7.

To be eligible, candidates must:
|
- Be aged 16-21 years old
- Live in Colorado
- Identify as a woman
- Demonstrate leadership in the community
- Be available to give an in-person speech to approximately 2,000 people on Friday, September 27 at The Colorado Convention Center
- Provide a valid social security number or taxpayer I.D. to accept the $2,500 award (if selected)

Specialty Institute: Enhancing Indigenous Advocacy for Survivors of IPV Impacted by Trauma, Mental Health, and Substance Use
Tues, Aug 13 - Aug 15 2024, All day
The 2024 NIWRC Specialty Institute will offer presentations addressing the complex intersections of IPV with substance use, trauma, and mental health challenges that survivors experience. IPV increases survivors’ risks of suicidality, substance use disorders, depression, PTSD, and other mental health impacts. These issues are often weaponized by offenders to revictimize, victim-blame, and isolate survivors. Survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner violence are challenged with many obstacles, especially navigating systems, finding safety, and accessing services. Additionally, survivors face increased abuse, violence, and sabotaging of recovery by current or former partners when they reach out and access resources. This Specialty Institute highlights promising practices that showcase the critical need for:
