OPEN: SWCAHEC Executive Director Position

Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center (SWCAHEC) is seeking applications for the Executive Director position. SWCAHEC is a non-profit organization that strives to improve rural health in the eight southwest counties of Colorado. SWCAHEC has a strong emphasis on supporting rural primary care and community health, and on developing a pipeline of students who will eventually be our region’s health professionals. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership of the organization in a manner that supports and guides SWCAHEC’s mission.

Applications for the 2024 Dottie Lamm Leadership Award Open Now

Do you know a young woman who demonstrates emerging community leadership, shows tenacity in overcoming challenges, engages in advocacy to protect and advance women’s rights, and lives The Foundation’s values of promise, leadership, community, learning, equity & inclusion, stewardship & accountability?
We are now accepting applications for our annual Dottie Lamm Leadership Award! We encourage women who believe embody the mission and vision of WFCO to apply for this one-time award of $2,500. Applications are due Sunday, July 7.
To be eligible, candidates must:
  • Be aged 16-21 years old
  • Live in Colorado
  • Identify as a woman
  • Demonstrate leadership in the community
  • Be available to give an in-person speech to approximately 2,000 people on Friday, September 27 at The Colorado Convention Center
  • Provide a valid social security number or taxpayer I.D. to accept the $2,500 award (if selected)

Strengthening Indigenous America: Building Resilience through Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Recovery (A Workshop)

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Emergencies will host a public workshop July 8-9, 2024 to explore opportunities to support the capacity of Indigenous American and Tribal communities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and public health emergencies. Workshop participants will share stories of strength and resilience, highlight tools and best practices, and identify priorities and gaps where partners can strengthen and support the capacities and capabilities of Indigenous American and Tribal communities. Workshop discussions will examine public health authorities and agreements, innovative research collaborations with Indigenous American and Tribal communities, data sovereignty, and data governance within the context of disasters and public health emergencies.
