AXIS is offering ASIST Training:

A new training academy has opened in Durango to help meet the need for caregivers who can work with the elderly and disabled.
Caregiver Learning Academy was started to bring new caregivers into the field because there is a shortage of them, and the need for them is expected to grow as baby boomers age, said Erin Youngblood, the academy’s administrator.
“There are a lot of caregiver positions available, however, there is a high burnout rate, especially if you aren’t trained correctly and you don’t have the support that’s needed. So the academy helps people be ready,” Youngblood said.
The academy was started last year by the owners of Comfort Keepers, a Durango in-home care company. It has graduated six students. Read the Durango Herald article...

NEW! Specialty Clinic List
January - June 2019
|
|

Perhaps the shiniest pearl of conventional wisdom in health economics is that patients with private insurance pay more at the hospital to make up for discounted or free care provided to people with public insurance or no insurance at all. Advocates used this theory of the "cost shift" to push for Medicaid expansion nationally and in Colorado over the past decade. Now a draft report from Colorado's Medicaid agency makes a stunning claim: The cost shift is a myth. Today, the Colorado Health Institute examines that report in a new policy brief.
