Anatomy in Clay® is a program that increases knowledge of human anatomy by using a hands-on approach to learning in which students build anatomical features on to a model (or Maniken®). This approach allows students to build anatomical features from the inside out on scale-model skeletons that gives them a three-dimensional perspective of the human body. This increased perspective, along with the interactive, kinesthetic act of building with clay, increases student understanding and retention of human anatomy.

Dear Southwestern Colorado Healthcare Providers,

The Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center (SWCAHEC) is a healthcare workforce capacity building organization that works to inspire community members to become healthcare professionals, to educate healthcare professions students about rural and underserved communities, and to provide area healthcare professionals with continuing education that is relevant and meaningful to their work. Our goals are to bring more healthcare professionals to our part of the state and to support the healthcare professionals that provide care in our communities.

As part of our growing programming, we would like to offer continuing education and trainings that give you the skill and knowledge that you need to address the health needs of Southwestern Colorado. We would like to understand what kind of educational opportunities you would like to see offered in our region. These educational opportunities could be for you, your partners, or your staff.

Please take a moment to fill out the Healthcare Professional Training Needs Assessment survey below. The survey is short and the information that you provide to us will be used to create a locally-based training series. The survey specifies some of the areas that are most often cited as healthcare training needs in rural communities but please feel free to write in any topics that may be missing at the end of the survey.

We are grateful to you for your dedication to increasing the wellness of Southwestern Colorado. Thank you in advance for giving us a few minutes of your time!!

What to Expect: Texting with Crisis Services
The Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) has created a short video explaining what to expect when reaching out to the Colorado Crisis Services hotline via text. The video is intended for youth audiences, but is a useful resource for anyone wondering what it is like when they text the word TALK to 38255. The short answer is that they will have a free and confidential conversation with a live, trained clinician who can provide support and resources no matter what the situation or time of day. We invite you to share the video with your networks.
