Millions of people in the United States have received the COVID-19 Vaccine and complications are rare. One risk that many associate with the COVID vaccine is Myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle. The risk of Myocarditis is low among people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Out of 100,000 people vaccinated, 12 people were diagnosed with this condition. Your risk of myocarditis is much higher if you contract COVID-19. Out of 100,000 COVID-19 patients, 132 were diagnosed with myocarditis. Get the vaccine and protect yourself again COVID-19!

Vaccine and Booster Clinic for Hospitality Service Employees

The Durango Chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association and BID are happy to announce a vaccination and booster clinic for hospitality workers. The clinic will be held next Wednesday December 15 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Durango Transit Center. No appointments are necessary. If anyone is seeking a booster shot, they should bring their vaccination card so that it can be updated. A second clinic will be offered on Wednesday January 5, also from 10 am to 5 pm at the Transit Center. Thanks to Super-Dave Woodruff for making this happen!

Improving Equity in Menopause Care

The goal of this series is to improve patient care experiences and access to high-quality healthcare for women from diverse racial and ethnic groups who are experiencing menopause. The seven-session series will provide an evidence-based, comprehensive curriculum covering the current state of knowledge on racial and ethnic disparities, opportunities to increase provider self-awareness and confidence and opportunities improve communication with patients. Sessions include short lectures and case-based discussions.

Mercy Regional Medical Center is hiring a full-time Community Health Project Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for public health, health education, nutrition and community health professionals with interests in health equity, food access/food security, local food and research.

Additional Helpful Skills and Background

· Basic clinical experience and/or comfort working with clinical staff and patients, documenting in an electronic health record

· Knowledge of public health, social determinants of health, food access/hunger

· Exposure to human subjects research (behavioral health, secondary data analysis ok), data collection and management

· Experience working with diverse populations

· Knowledge of food systems (from agriculture to supply chain and food retail/food service)

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in public health, public administration, health education, nutrition, or other related fields, certified health education specialist (CHES) encouraged.

The Assistant Director of the Counseling Center - Diversity and Outreach Initiatives will provide culturally responsive clinical mental health services, while also focusing on campus-wide initiatives to reach and support historically underserved and currently marginalized students. This position will have the opportunity to grow the department’s current initiatives in collaboration with campus Affinity Centers and growing relationships with colleagues and students. Demonstrated experience in working with individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds is essential. Experience with rapid assessment, risk management, and brief therapy are also crucial. Must have the capacity to practice independently, to collaborate effectively with individuals of different backgrounds and abilities, and to provide skilled supervision of clinical staff as needed.
