Congratulations to our 2021 AHEC Scholars Graduate, Ann Nelson!

Ann graduated from Fort Lewis College in May with Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Health and a minor in Chemistry. She also earned Public Health and Magna Cum Laude Honors. We were also lucky to have Ann as a student intern with us here at SWCAHEC last spring and summer semesters. Ann has plans to go into nursing and is currently finishing up her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program at Pueblo Community College and applying to accelerated nursing programs.

Congrats Ann and good luck on your road to nursing!

Past the Pandemic: Mental Well-being for You and Your Patients

This ECHO series offers strategies to navigate, normalize and hold space for worries and experiences during this pandemic. Each session provides helpful, tangible tools in a psychoeducational, didactic format. By understanding stress along a continuum, participants will learn how to manage stress and loss, increase capacity to prevent burnout, elevate connectedness and mindfulness, and promote quality patient care.

WHAT THIS ECHO WILL FOCUS ON
CoPPCAP, the Colorado Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation & Access Program, is offering this 8-session ECHO series to give participants the baseline knowledge and skills to assess and treat pediatric mental/behavioral health conditions in primary care. Topics covered include: Assessment & Screening, “What is Therapy”, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Suicide and NSSI, Trauma, and consideration of how to address behavioral health concerns in the very busy primary care setting. Each session is designed to provide a brief didactic overview of the topic followed by participant initiated robust case-based discussion.

Mental Health Counselor
The Mental Health Counselor works closely with a supportive team who are responsible for responding to the mental health and wellness needs of the diverse student body at Fort Lewis College, a Native American-serving institution located in Durango, Colorado. The Counseling Center also offers a robust clinical training program for graduate-level counseling and social work interns to learn to become mature, experienced, and self-aware in the application of counseling skills. As a team, we value enhancing the lives of students, team members and interns and the wider campus community in an inclusive, culturally responsive manner. The Counseling Center is strongly motivated to develop a team of talented mental health professionals who accurately reflect and represent the significant compositional diversity of our student body.
Salary range is $47,250 - $50,250, dependent on experience, for this full-time (40hrs/week), 9 month position (mid-August thru mid-May) plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Position can be negotiated to 32hrs/week if desired.

The Executive Director is the voice and face of CNA's mission, vision and goals to the public, community partners, legislators, and membership. The Executive Director will report directly to the CNA Board of Directors and will manage the day-to-day operations of the CNA office and staff. The five key areas of responsibilities include: leadership and management; financial and legal; communications; advocacy and engagement; and membership and development.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing guardian ad litem, special advocacy, parent coordination, and mediation services as assigned through Court appointment and clinical supervisor. Responsible for psycho-social educational classes for youth as assigned by clinical supervisor. Responsible for case management activities and/or counseling services involving assigned adults and juveniles. This position is both Tribal funded and grant funded. Full time status is contingent on grant funding.

Dental Program Coordinator
Tri-County Health Network (TCHNetwork) is looking for a Dental Program Coordinator to maintain a positive environment and ensure a high level of organizational effectiveness and communication within The TCHN Dental Program. The Coordinator will facilitate the scheduling and day-to-day operational aspects of the program. They will be responsible for the general operation of the dental program, with duties including but not limited to, scheduling, working in the field to assist the Dental Hygienist; charting and documenting exams; billing; reviewing, evaluating, & identifying ways to improve program efficiency and effectiveness; promoting programs; improving workflow productivity; increasing client participation; and helping to ensure program sustainability. The Care Coordinator is responsible for increasing community and partner knowledge of Tri-County Health Network’s (TCHNetwork) programs and services, building strategic relationships to identify and address barriers to good health, and conducting a variety of outreach activities. The Care Coordinator will also provide direct services to clients including (1) conducting both phone and in-home outreach and assessments for individuals enrolled in Medicaid; (2) performing in-home assessments and connecting adults age 60 plus and adults with disabilities to community resources; and (3) identifying client barriers to health and connect clients to/enroll clients in relevant programs to promote health.
