Senator Michael Bennet Launches a Bipartisan Health Care Price Transparency Initiative

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and a bipartisan group of his colleagues are seeking feedback from the health care and patient communities as they develop new legislation to improve price transparency and lower costs in the health care market. The senators sent a letter to stakeholders and received nearly 1,000 pages of feedback from more than 130 organization on topics ranging from regulatory barriers to big data to cash prices. Senator Bennet continues to seek feedback from Coloradans.

“Patients should be able to see the price of a procedure or test before they get it done, not months later when they get a surprise bill in the mail,” the bipartisan senators said. “Health care price transparency will encourage accountability, competition, and lower costs. We greatly appreciate all the input we received from a wide variety of stakeholders across the ideological spectrum. Their ideas and suggestions will help us draft legislation to ensure patients are no longer kept in the dark about their choices.”

You can read the original letter they sent requesting feedback by clicking HERE.

If you would like to provide further comments to Senator Bennet, contact John Whitney at Bennet's Durango office: [email protected] or 259-1710.
