This online series of courses will provide an in-depth understanding of Motivational Interviewing (MI) as an evidence based approach to support health behavior change. A health care provider's skill in recognizing patients' readiness, responding effectively to both sides of the patient's ambivalence and supporting motivation for change is essential to improving health outcomes. Attendees will participate in practice exercises and participatory learning experiences, and after courses 1 and 2 will be ready to try MI in patient encounters. Access to an interactive website for follow-up networking and peer support is also included.

Featuring: Motivational Interviewing for Primary Care: Opioid Abuse/Misuse - learn MI techniques specifically designed for working with patients who misuse or abuse opioid medications.

PEDIATRIC SUICIDE PREVENTION:
A PRACTICAL CARE PATHWAY FOR PRIMARY CARE

Even before COVID-19, one in seven Colorado high school students said they had seriously considered suicide within the past 12 months. Primary care interventions can have a dramatic positive impact on this pediatric mental health crisis. This ECHO series will support primary care providers in the outpatient setting by offering a practical suicide prevention care pathway based on the Zero Suicide framework. The five sessions will cover the implementation of an evidence-based screening tool, assessment, safety planning, lethal means safety, referral/resources and ongoing management follow up plan to support youth experiencing suicidal ideation.

Medical providers, nurses, and behavioral health providers (MD, DO, NP, PA, MA, LPN, RN, LCSW, LPC, PsyD, PhD) working with youth in an outpatient primary care setting and providing direct patient care.

Racism has been declared a public health crisis and is a key obstacle to reducing health inequity. Flashlights, our anti-racism project, was intentionally designed for people who identify as white to “do the work.” We offer less "what to do about racism?" and more "what it looks like to do it." We create a learning environment that invites authentic expression and bypasses a one-and-done, informational approach.

Each Live Learning Session on Zoom offers 60 minutes of facilitated practice of conversations about race. Flashlights holds up a mirror to show the culture white people inhabit, and what could be if we showed up as alternative voices willing to talk and act regarding racism.
