When celebrations, special events, or holidays include many people, this can cause confusion and anxiety for a person with Alzheimer’s. He or she may find some situations easier and more pleasurable than others. Here are some tips to help you and the person with Alzheimer’s visit and reconnect with family, friends, and neighbors during holidays.

Meditation with Franti

The Durango Dharma Center and the Community Foundation have joined forces to bring you a unique event with funk, reggae, soul & hip-hop artist Michael Franti. The one-hour program, facilitated by the Dharma Center, will begin with a gratitude meditation, followed by a conversation with Michael Franti sharing his personal journey with meditation and other contemplative practices. Dolores School-Based Health Clinic is now open!

The Four Corners Youth Clinics is located on the Middle/High School Campus at 1301 Central Avenue in Dolores offering integrated care.

A counselor is available to help with parenting tips for students or younger siblings, and lifestyle goal setting (ie. weight loss/gain; overcoming social anxiety, and more). Brief individual or family counseling services also offered. Well Child visits also offer Flouride varnish for children's teeth.


Dolores Clinic Hours: Monday 730-12:30, Tuesday 730-3:30, Wednesday 1-5. Can see anyone ages 0-5, and Dolores students/siblings age 6-21.

Starting in January, providers will be in Dolores Tues/Thurs from 8-4.

Services available to ages 0-5, and Dolores students/siblings age 6-21.

The Board of Directors of the National AHEC Organization announces the selection of a new Chief Executive Officer, Dwain Harris, MHA

Dwain Harris, MHA, has accepted the new NAO CEO position beginning Jan. 21, 2019. Harris has served as the AHEC center director of the Southern Kentucky AHEC in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky for 14 years. In that role, he has worked closely with his team in all areas of the AHEC mission, including student rotations, preceptor development, health career promotion, pipeline development, continuing education and community health initiatives. Harris responds, “The NAO leadership has done such an incredible job of advancing the AHEC network in the last few years. I am honored to join this team, and I am eager to begin work strengthening our existing partnerships while cultivating new ones.” Learn more...

Community Resource Center will be placing talented, diverse AmeriCorps members to serve in nonprofits and community based organizations across rural Colorado for service beginning in 2019. Members will either build the internal capacity of your organization through CRC's AmeriCorps VISTA program, OR deliver direct services to clients and community members through our AmeriCorps STATE program. Through serving as a rural intermediary organization, CRC is excited to offer these two "streams of service" to organizations across our state.

Applications received by January 31st will be given priority consideration.

Managing Effective Coalitions (Nov. 1, 2018 - Apr. 4, 2019) -
Come chat once a month with colleagues who are managing, leading, or supporting coalitions in their community. We will explore successes, challenges, ideas, and solutions for building effective coalitions that create and sustain lasting change. The Managing Effective Coalitions Community of Practice will be facilitated, but there will not be any formal presentation and the conversation will be driven by the participants. Anyone working with a coalition tackling issues related to public health, behavioral health, or environmental health located in the states of CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, or WY is invited to participate. You do not need to attend every month.

Leading Effective Coalitions ECHO Series (2 series coming in Feb. & May 2019) - In the five, one-hour live sessions, experienced coalition leaders will have an opportunity to engage with peers and experts to build on their knowledge and strategies aimed at improving their effectiveness in leading coalitions.

In the four, one-hour sessions, foodborne epidemiologists will engage with peers and experts as they are encouraged to utilize a variety of data and tools available to them when generating a hypothesis for an outbreak detected through pathogen-based surveillance.

Knowledge of behavioral health, community resources, and the justice system desired. Four Corners Child Advocacy Center is seeking a
full-time child & family advocate


The Child/Victim Advocate is responsible for promoting a child friendly, supportive environment at the Child Advocacy Center by providing crisis support, system information, and community resources for children and their families who participate in an investigation of child abuse or for children who have witnessed traumatic and violent crime.

Candidate must have experience working with children and families, have knowledge of child development and be familiar with local and state resources for child victims of abuse. Candidate preferred to possess either a Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, sociology, education, or criminal justice (negotiable) and/or have extensive related work experience. Training will be provided upon hire, if needed.

$37,440-$40,000 dependent on experience. Insurance available after probation period.
