On April 10th, Centennial AHEC hosted the last virtual session of the 2022-23 HOPE Program. Samantha Vernon, MPHc, the program coordinator at Centennial AHEC presented Health Literacy to high school students statewide. They learned about health literacy, why it's important, building health literacy in community health programs, and how health literacy impacts patient services in healthcare. The students also participated in an interactive activity by drawing a Mr. Potato Head using medical, anatomical, and scientific terms.

Eligible students were invited to apply to the COAHEC HOPE Institute. It is a free week-long event whereby students receive healthcare education first-hand at the CU Anschutz Medical Center.

We want to thank all our Colorado high school students who participated in the 2022-23 HOPE Program!
