SWCAHEC is proud to partner with the Trailhead Institute and the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment to host a series of culturally relevant trainings for healthcare providers. These trainings, created as collaboration between SWCAHEC and multiple presenters, educate regional healthcare providers about issues related to the care of diverse community members.

Through these intensive trainings, SWCAHEC and its partners aim to promote an understanding of different cultural perspectives to increase access to care in Southwestern Colorado. Funding for these trainings is made possible through Colorado House Bill 22-1267 with the express purpose of addressing biases in healthcare systems. By amplifying the voices of underserved and marginalized community members and promoting conversations about providing care that is inclusive and affirming, healthcare providers and their partners in Southwestern Colorado can continue to offer high quality and accessible care. These trainings include culturally-informed education materials, processes that honor cultural practices, and communications styles that facilitate relationships with tribal/diverse community members in the healthcare setting. Most trainings are virtual and open (but not limited to) healthcare providers living and serving in Southwest Colorado.
