Colorado Area Health Education Center Health Occupations Promoting Equity (COAHEC H.O.P.E.)

The mission of COAHEC H.O.P.E. is a hands-on, health career exploration experience for high school students, achieved by the following objectives.

• Prioritize students from rural and underserved communities in medicine.

• Expose motivated students to a wide range of healthcare careers.

• Guide high school students on how to prepare and apply to secondary programs.

• Motivate students to contribute back to their communities through health equity.

COAHEC H.O.P.E. is no general lecture but a more hands-on learning experience. There are two parts to COAHEC H.O.P.E. One is the COAHEC H.O.P.E. Program, with sessions that run during the school year, and the other is the COAHEC H.O.P.E. Institute, which is a week-long summer camp experience. For more information about this program please contact Dyllon Mills, Community Health Programs Associate at Southwestern Colorado AHEC, at [email protected] or [email protected].
