Interested in Becoming a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)?
SWCAHEC has begun training Medical Assistants in Southwestern Colorado! Generous funding from the Telligen Community Initiative, Rocky Mountain Health Foundation, and the Colorado Health Foundation will help to train Medical Assistants from under-represented groups in healthcare in our region. Students are excited to develop their healthcare skills so that they can serve our rural region as future healthcare providers. They will be an asset to area practices and healthcare facilities as they bring local knowledge, strong ties to our communities, and a commitment to serving underserved communities. What is a CMA?
Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMAs) are a vital part of healthcare teams in hospitals, clinics and medical offices.
CCMAs roles and responsibilities include:
•Assisting providers with exams and procedures •Taking patient vital signs
•Updating and maintaining electronic health records
•Answering phone calls and questions
